Upcoming Historical Romance Wiki Firefox Fix

I got an e-mail this morning from a reader who couldn't access any of the links on my Upcoming Historical Romances wiki. It looked fine on my end, so I took to Twitter and voila! Sure enough, the problem seems to occurring with Firefox. In a nutshell? Because I'm too cheap to pay for the wiki service, y'all get bombarded with advertising on the side bar, along the top of the page etc. It's an ad that is causing the glitch making my wonderful wiki unusable. Here's a fix that worked for me, and hopefully it will work for you too.
Open up Firefox. Under the Tools menu, click on Add-Ons. That will bring up a separate window. Along top, choose the Get Add-Ons button. There you should find an add-on called Adblock Plus. Install that. Viola! The links on my wiki should start working again.
If that doesn't do it for you? Sigh. Hopefully Wetpaint is working on the issue, and everything seems to be peachy using Internet Explorer. Sorry for the inconvenience folks!

Something To Ponder

First things first. My apologies to all of you who subscribe to the RSS feed for my Upcoming Historical Romances wiki. I was at work, went in to update a few things using Internet Explorer, and ended up corrupting several images and links. There was no easier way to fix it than wiping out a crap-load of cover art and starting over from scratch. Which is why those of you using the RSS feed probably got about 5698 notifications that I had added content. I did add some new content, but the vast majority of my time was spent fixing stuff that got mucked up because IE blows donkey balls.

Anyway, yes - I recently did some updating to the wiki and spent some time last week tip-toeing through some databases scrounging up some upcoming historical romance releases. It was while I was looking for cowboys, Dukes and rakes that I came across this happy little gem, due out in March 2010:
Longtime readers of this blog know that I'm a massive ho for the Harlequin SuperRomance line. Um, and unless the title of this blog hasn't clued you in, I'm also a librarian. So how awesome do I think this book sounds? Very! Hell, I don't even know what the damn thing is going to be about yet, but that title sounds like it's chock full of Harlequin-y goodness.

Which begs the question? What exactly did the librarian do? Something positively scandalous, no doubt. Maybe she had to break the news to some poor little orphan boy that Harry Potter isn't a real person? Or maybe she inadvertently allowed a book burning committee to meet in the library's community room? Ooooh, or maybe she banned Eric Carle and Maurice Sendak from her secret baby's book collection?

Heh, or maybe the librarian just refused to keep her mouth shut and started a blog.

Is it March yet?

Linkorama Jama

Given the current economic climate, desperate times call for desperate (and cool) measures. Those wild librarians of Texas are raising money for the Texas Library Association's Disaster Relief fund with a calender featuring Texas librarians showing off their....tattoos.

Yeah. Y'all thought I was going to say something else didn't you? Maybe librarians showing off their stacks? Ha!

Thanks to Random House Inc.'s Library Services blog for the heads-up on the coolness.

+++++++++

In other news, it's come to my attention that despite my sidebar and me occasionally mentioning it in blog posts, that some of you don't know that I do a wiki for Upcoming Historical Romance releases. There's even an RSS feed people!

I did some massive updating this week, so you can now see releases through February 2010 (although obviously the later months aren't "complete" just yet). I dig up this information thanks to some of the databases I use at work, along with some publications I get, and right now I'm feeling pretty confident that it's mostly complete through October 2009. Never say never though. I could be missing a title somewhere.

I also have lots of cover art over there. I don't really buy books based on covers, but that doesn't mean I don't love looking at it! So there is lots of pretty and shiny to gaze upon. Here is just a small sampling:

And for those of you hoping I'll set something up for the other sub genres of romance? Um yeah, don't count on it. While this wiki isn't a total time suck, it does take some work, and I'm really only providing a bare minimum of information (author, title, ISBN, price and publisher). I do it because I love me some historical romance, and I'm fairly passionate about it. I also do it because it amuses me and I love to gaze upon the pretty and the shiny. If some of you find it useful as well, all the better.
