Sharing Is Caring

Like any good little Gen-Xer, I have faithfully watched The Simpsons since it debuted on Fox many moons ago. Despite the fact that I can't remember the last time I laughed out loud at an episode. Seriously, it's been a long ass time. So color me happy when I finally watched Sunday's episode last night (ahhh TiVo, how I love thee) and they poked some much deserved fun at my arch-nemesis Steve Jobs.

Any librarian worth their salt has issues with Jobs. Mostly because it's very apparent that he was absent the day in kindergarten when they learned about "sharing."

Yeah, yeah - Apple computers are the best thing since the steam engine, self-check out machines at the grocery store, and washing machines. I'm an idiot tool too ignorant for my own good. Blah, blah, blah.

Whatever, I still about wet my pants during this scene.

Awesome.

Although...I love my iPod. And I'm jonesing for an iPhone. But I feel really dirty about it.

And no matter how many times I've seen an episode I still find something new to laugh about.

OMG!!!! That was so funny!!! It was really funny for me because I am one of those Apple people who think Steve is a GOD!! I love him!!! I love my imac, ipod touch and my 3 shuffles and 2 nanos!!!! I own 3 Biographies about him. But I am not a super freak-o fan--oh no--Windows is really fine but it is just a copy of the original.......

All Apple products are "insanely" expensive but worth it to me.

I love underdogs and Steve is one of my favorites. I am glad to see him succeed after being thrown out of Apple.

I'm a Mac but PCs are great! Live and let live!! They are all just computers after all!!

Kati: I know. I always ooh and ahh whenever I see anyone's iPhone. Then I go home and take a hot shower...with bleach. I'll never forget when the first ones came out and people were figuring out how to "hack" it. Color me obtuse, but I just don't see the point in paying $500 for something that you have to "hack" into so it will work for you.

Travis: I think The Simpsons hit their stride during their middle seasons. About the time they started having cheesy celebrity guests like N*Sync, was when they started to lose me. Oh, the glory days when stars like Michelle Pfeiffer would do the show as a "character" and not as "themselves."

I still watch though. Nostalgia, thy name is Wendy.

Nikki: I always hear from Mac users that once you go Mac, you never go back. Me? I've been on a PC for so long, making the switch might cause my feeble wittle brain to explode LOL

Oz about peed himself over that episode - especially since his Mac just crashed and we had to visit a "genius" at the "genius bar." Geesh - they need to get over themselves at Apple!

Gah, I needed that. Hahaha. I walked into an Apple store the other day, looked around, rolled my eyes and walked out.
Their idea of a discount is $50 off a $2000 system. Uh, yeah. Umm, no, thank you.

Nothing against them and I do buy things I consider useful and good, but Apple (and Apple users) tend to have this elitist attitude.

Yeah, whatever.

:-(
Why do I always show up once it's been removed?

Kristie:
It's still working. Maybe hulu just had a glitch when you tried. Try again :-)

Totally agree about the decline of the Simpsons, but that clip shows they can still dish it out when they are inspired.

Hi Wedny!

I'm a Mac user (and lover. Once a PC has a fatal error and dies along with your senior thesis, you sort of never want another Gateway again).

Anywho, why do librians hate Macs?

Ahhhh - I didn't really read the message. It seems that it can "only be streamed within the United States"

Humph!! What are we - chopped liver?

Kristie: Wow, really? I had no idea. I'll need to stop posting hulu videos then - which sucks because they do a lot of TV show clips that get yanked off YouTube for violating copyright.

Jess: It boils down to compatibility issues. iPods won't play nice with digital formats that are widely used for library lending.
