Now to get back into a rut of some kind.
Although at this typing I still haven't bought 1) my holiday greeting cards or 2) any of the gifts I need to buy. So yeah, I'm thinking the rut is going to be put on hold for a bit. I am so not ready for Christmas!
A couple of hodge-podge things of note:
- I surpassed the 1000 blog post milestone recently. Not bad, considering in the olden days (you know, before 99% of you joined the party?) I was blogging maybe once a week. Coming up in Februrary? The Bat Cave's 6th anniversary!
- Rosie has a lovely post over at Reader's Gab. Go forth - read it, comment, love it!
- Crap, I have a dentist appointment this week I totally forgot about. If that man finds anything "wrong," so help me God, he better run fast - because I'm grabbing The Ice Pick Of Death (you know, that vile instrument they use to scrape your teeth?), and there's no telling what I'll do.
- I desperately need a haircut. D-e-s-p-e-r-a-t-e-l-y.
- I finished a new cozy mystery while I was waylaid by the stomach flu. Frankly My Dear, I'm Dead by Livia J. Washburn. Cute, but kind of fluffy - even by my standards. Heroine opens travel agency catering to "literary tours" and while visiting a recreation of Tara, the actor playing Rhett Butler is stabbed to death. Cute, fluffy, a good library check-out read (Seriously, 213 pages and it's a hard cover?! Yeah, yeah word count - whatever. I see 213 pages). My grade is around a B-. I'll probably read the next book in the series.

I was wondering whether or not to read that. I'll add it to the list.
Hey, thanks for the plug. I'm having a blast today surfing from site to site. I haven't had a chance to click where-the-heck-ever my heart desires in what seems like forever.
Oh, and when you find "rut" send it my way will ya?
That's all kinds of Freudian, isn't it?
lasa: It's a cute read, just nothing earth-shattering. I didn't have a whole lot to say about it - hence the lack of a real review. I tend to read cozies when I want "brain candy" or "comfort food" and this one fit the bill. It didn't change my life, but it was pleasant enough fare......
Rosie: I would have plugged it sooner, but I just got around to reading it today. Busy, busy, busy.
I so hear you on happily surfing the 'Net. Today is the first chance I've had to do that in a while. My Man would be feeling neglected if he weren't taking a nap ;-)
Did you read Austenland, speaking of cute and strange and based on travels to odd resorts?
And the thing about Austenland (I always hit send too early) is the author, Shannon Hale, wrote a great YA Fantasy series.
Kate: Haven't read, but bought a mess of copies of it for work. And I just looked - oh goodie, the library actually has it as a downloadable audio book! I am so insanely behind on my reading. As soon as I stop neglecting, and finish, the latest Janet Evanovich on audio, Austenland might have to be my next download.
I'm going to be the smarmy little sister here and say that all my cards are addressed and in them mail and except for mother my shopping is done. Woo hoo! I know, I know, you can kill me when you see me in a few weeks. :)
Oops, in "THE" mail...not them. "Me fail English that's unpossible!"
Sweet lord. Christmas cards. Something else for the to-do list!
I only have a few more gifts to buy, but I haven't even thought about buying Christmas cards yet. Glad you are feeling better and so sorry y'all all were sick over Thanksgiving.
Your hair looked fine that last time I saw it.
Yes, I joined late, but it's so fun. :D Wow, 6 years. Just, wow.
That book does sound funny. I'm still trying to work through Maggie O's books first (puts this book in list) ^_^.
Lil' Sis: Nobody likes a smarty pants. I'm leaning towards hitting Target on my lunch break today and buying mine. Then I can spend all weekend getting them done!
Kate: Um yeah - sorry about that.
Liza: I need to start my shopping this weekend.
Alys: I'm wearing it in a pony-tail almost non-stop, which means it's time for a cut. Also, my hair is layered, and the ends are starting to get that raggedy look.
I purchased several copies of Frankly My Dear, I'm Dead for the library system....although not for the branch you frequent. You'll need to request it ;-)
Love the cover art on that book.
Lil Sis, I hate you. Coal for you this year. Wendy, I've done nothing for Christmas either and I have two kids!!!
