Remember a billion years ago when I started a wiki? You don't? Of course you don't - because I've been neglecting it for the last several months. So this week I spent some time revamping and retooling my Upcoming Historical Romances wiki. For those of you new to the Bat Cave, this is a site where I dump titles of upcoming historical romances. Why historicals? Because they're my first love and if I tried to do all of the romance sub genres I'd quickly go insane. It's nothing flashy, just author, title, ISBN, price and publisher. Title links and book covers will take you to the Amazon page and author links will take you to the author's web site.One thing I noticed during the revamping was that whoa doggie - a lot of reprints coming out in December. And one of them happens to be one of my all-time favorite westerns, Cherish by Catherine Anderson. The copy in my keeper stash is hardly pristine, so I think I'm going to have to buy a shiny, new copy of the reprint edition (although honesty, could that cover be any more blah?).
In other news, where the heck have I been that I haven't spent any time over at Lust Bites? It's a group author blog featuring many Black Lace and Cheek authors. I'm sure I've mentioned a time or two that when the Super Librarian decides to be naughty, her books of choice tend to be Black Lace titles. And oh goodie - today the fabulous Portia Da Costa has an excerpt up of her forthcoming naughty librarian book, In Too Deep. But be warned, 'tis very, very naughty. Bless her heart. I'm always on the lookout for librarian heroines who don't make my head hurt (for the love of God, no more good girl virgins who want to be "bad"), and dear Gwendolynne just might be what the doctor ordered.Wait a minute....

Alas, in my own library career there were never any hot professors lurking down in the basement... although I always lived in hope.
And if you should ever manage to source a couple of copies of 'Nympho Librarian', do let me know. I'd love to own one and I'll pay any reasonable price. :)

Jami: I found that image through the image hosting site I use. Alas, I'm not sure if the book really exists. No record of it on OCLC (and yes, I looked), but if it was real, it was most definitely "pulp." The very nature of "pulp" was that they were "throwaway"-type books and who knows how many of them have been forever lost over the years....
Well, it sure looks like a real book. Like the kind you'd find on the Pop Sensation blog.
And yeah, I tried to search it up too.

Ah, Wendy, Wendy, OCLC does not contain all books everywhere. Sorry to disillusion you but unless some university somewhere has a librarian porn collection you were unlikely to find Nympho Librarian on OCLC. Public libraries are unlikely to collect this title so unless there's a neat special collection at some university--out of luck. My public library has the ONLY book on foot fetish (I think it was called the Romance of the Shoe and the Foot) that was explicit but scholarly. That sucker was interlibrary loaned all over the country! At one time it had circulated over 100 times! We were the only ones in the country who had a copy except for a couple of special collections that wouldn't loan. I think it was the only book on OCLC under the subject heading for foot fetish so if you wanted to know about that this book was your sole choice. Why we bought it I'll never know but boy were we popular!
Anon: You didn't disillusion me - I certainly know that OCLC is not "complete" by any stretch of the imagination. Just that without there being a listing in OCLC, it makes the book a wee bit more difficult to track down. Such is the nature of "pulp" and "porn." Their "throwaway" quality meant that a lot of those titles disintegrated, got thrown away, or just plain lost.
My alma mater actually has a great special collection of pulp fiction titles. Fascinating stuff, and a great back story of how the collection came to be housed at the university.
