Like most drones who work Monday through Friday, I do my grocery shopping on the weekend. Usually Sunday morning. This Sunday my trip to the grocery store was more memorable than usual. Why?
Cadbury Creme Eggs are back! Oh happy, happy day!
I swear, sometimes I think the gypsies stole me from an English hospital and swapped me with another child in Michigan, USA. It's the only way I can explain my undying devotion for tea (One word = junkie) and Cadbury chocolate. Oh, how I love Cadbury chocolate. For you ignorant Americans who are operating under the misconception that Cadbury chocolate is "too sweet," I just have one thing to say:
Are you insane? No really - are you? "Too sweet?" How is that even possible? There is no such thing as "too sweet."
And yes, I know I'm American too. Whatever.
But damn Cadbury's eyes for practicing good business and creating demand. I can only get my Creme Eggs and Mini Eggs (also delectable!) fix for a few months out of the year. If I could get them all the time would I still love them so? Well, maybe not as much. They're more special because I can't get them all the time.
Yes, I know I have an unhealthy relationship with chocolate. I'd say I'm working on it, but we both know I'd be lying through my teeth.
Oh happy day! Cadbury Creme Eggs are back! Tomorrow, I get a life.

I love Cadbury's chocolate and I used to gorge on the creme eggs at Easter -- my family buy boxes of them for me at Easter. Sadly, the filling now seems too sweet for me.
One of my colleagues (South African) adores the mini eggs. In fact, she stocks up and freezes enough of them to be supplied through to fall.
You know I lurve em! But...they changed the "recipe" for the filling - it seemed different when we were kids. I think the filling was a bit "runnier" in the 80s.
JMC: I lurve the mini eggs and never thought about freezing them. Actually, it's probably a bad thing you told me about that. The Boyfriend might open the freezer one day to discover bags upon bags of mini eggs.....
Lil Sis: You know, you might be right, but dang I still love them so. Tomorrow I work on having a healthier relationship with food.
I can't stand the creme eggs, but I love, love the mini eggs. If "mini eggs" is the name of the little egg-shaped chocolates covered in a pastel candy shell. Like M&Ms but about a thousand times better. I actually noticed that they came out in Christmas colors last December. So now apparently we can enjoy them twice a year. :)
Jennie:
Yes! Those are the ones! And they had them out at Christmas? Dang, I missed 'em.
I tend to find the Cadbury eggs a bit too sweet, but the chocolate bars are wonderful (Fruit & Nuts, baby... mmmmmmm). And the mini eggs are too yummy. It's best for my pocketbook and waistline that they aren't available all year round.
Ah Cadbury - how I love thy ovoid treats! My evil Canadian friend loves to remind me that Cadbury products sold in America are made by Hershey's and thus are not proper Cadbury.
I used to love the traditional creme eggs as a child but now that I'm older the caramel incarnation is tops.
(randomness: Wikipedia reports that the size of the American eggs has shrunken through time. Those bastards!)
There are also "mini" Cadbury's eggs too - besides the M&M's mini eggs. I just saw them a few years ago in the store and had to try them. Unfortunately, I don't think they are as good - not enough filling. :)
I haven't had the creme eggs yet. But I married into an Indian family and my sis-in-laws have introduced me to the delight of Cadbury Dairy Milk and Cadbury Fruits and Nuts.
