I Am So Smart, S-M-R-T

Besides not blogging over the weekend, I also didn't read. Bad Wendy, bad! What I did do was hit The Boyfriend's office Christmas party Saturday night where everyone spent the whole evening telling him (and me) how "smart Wendy is."

Did I mention there was also quite a bit of alcohol at this party?

So why am I so smart? My team won the Christmas trivia contest. Ah yes, that money my parents spent on my liberal arts education has been so worth it. Sure, it did teach me how to write (and that's debatable if you're a regular reader of this blog) and research, but by far the real benefit has been all the completely useless knowledge I have rattling around in my brain. I can't do simple math in my head, but dang I can kick your butt in Trivial Pursuit.

So what did I win? A $25 gift card at Nordstrom. Which I figure will buy me a belt buckle or a pair of socks.

In way more exciting news, the trailer for the new Batman movie has landed on the web. Here at the Super Librarian Bat Cave, we love all things Batman and squee'ed like a teenage girl over the fact that hunky, delectable, and very good actor, Christian Bale was reprising the role as our favorite vigilante anti-hero. We were less thrilled upon learning that Heath Ledger was going to play The Joker. Heath "Pretty Boy" Ledger? As our most favorite Batman villain ever? But after watching this trailer we think he'll do just fine. Color us surprised that he doesn't totally suck and actually looks rather unhinged. We, of course, reserve final judgment until the movie is actually released, but for now it's a big, collective sigh of relief.

And we only have to wait until Summer 2008.

HA! Me too, I always say, "Team me up with a sports and science dude and we'll clean house!" and, we always do!

(I won a Budweiser beer chair at the local pub one evening because of the trivia contest- yeah I gave that to my bf as soon as we left!)

My hubby marvels at and sweetly ridicules the amount of "useless" information in my head, but who does he come to for answers to "useless" questions or when we're playing trivia games? Uh huh. But he does the math in the head thing, so we balance nicely.

As for the movie, I think the makeup job on Heath lends itself to being unhinged. Freaky. I wouldn't have known it was him if you hadn't said so. Though the golden locks, disheveled as they may be, should be a dead give away.

Zeek: Yeah, when we play Trivial Pursuit in teams, The Boyfriend and I do pretty well as he's my science and sports dude.

Cathy: Ha! I have one of those at home too. The Boyfriend loves movies but can't be bothered to remember the pesky details like actors' names, plots etc. I can't tell you how many times we've gone to rent a movie, he picked up one and says, "This sounds good" and I say, "You've seen it already."

"No I haven't."

"Yes you have. Remember? It's about this guy who does this thing and that happens etc."

"Oh yeah...."

The sad state of affairs is that often times HE'S seen the movie and NOT ME - yet I'm the one who has to jog his memory.

Seriously, I need a life.

I must be living under a rock, because I didn't know there was going to be another Batman movie! But yay. Christian Bale is so fabulous. And Heath Ledger is barely recognizable in the preview as the Joker--if I hadn't known it was him, I don't think I'd have realized. He is a pretty boy, but I think ... I'm blanking name of the movie...the gay cowboys one--you know--but that proved that he could seriously act.

Mind you I couldn't hear the video, but just seeing it - it looks pretty good! Now I need to see the first one.
And I love Trivia Pursuit too - but so few people I know play it :(
