Just A Bit Outside

I'm beginning to suspect that Major League Baseball let a drunken monkey set up the schedule. Case in point, the Tigers just wrapped up a two game set with the Indians (divisional rivals), now it's on to a four game set with the Yankees, then it's back for three more with the Indians, then another four game set with the Yankees. It's enough to make a girl take up drinking.

Oh who am I kidding? With the way our pitching has looked this year I've already busted the lock on the liquor cabinet.

But one thing to look forward to - the rousing welcome Gary Sheffield is sure to get when he shows up at Yankee stadium today.
Sheffield isn't fearing a negative reaction when he returns to New York later this week. "I know what kind of appreciation I get," said Sheffield, who spent three seasons with the Yankees before being traded.
Where I come from we call this denial. She-it, he'll be lucky if they don't throw batteries and spare engine parts at him.

Still, it's something to look forward to. Definitely more interesting to watch than my pitching melting down.

So in honor of what is sure to be a long, long, long week and a half, here's a clip from one of my favorite baseball movies. Incidentally, this is kinda what the Tigers bullpen has looked like this year.

Warning: a few naughty words ahead

Kind of reminds me of Bonderman in the first inning. Josh said his ERA is around 400 for the first inning. I don't believe it's that high....

Big Sis: Last I heard it was over 11. But I think Josh might be right, it's probably closer to 400 now. It's a seriously freaky thing to watch. How can he be so BAD in the first inning, then settle down and pitch really good the rest of the game? Except in Anaheim of course. The last couple of times I've seen Bondo in Anaheim it's been fugly.

Don't even get me started on Bonderman. Ugh! Pitching is looking slightly better, but they can't win more than two games in a row. And I am not sure the last time they even won a series. I do like the Yankees though, so while I definitely want to Tigers to win I don't boo the Yankees or hate them.

I LOVE Major League. When my son was about 8 or 10, we took a video to the hair salon and he got the Vaughn haircut! LOL!

Alison: LOL! While I had some horrible perms I take comfort in the fact that I never had Big Hair or shaved anything into the back of my head.

Another great aspect of Major League is that Renee Russo plays a librarian! The screen writers get bonus points for actually including in her dialogue that she "got her master's degree." Gold star for them!

Of course MAJOR LEAGUE is a fave in our house. GG is the much beleaguered Indian fan. We had no choice.

Well, Sheffield's an idiot. He probably would have gotten a standing O if he'd kept his mouth shut. He's probably lucky Clemens wasn't pitching. Torre borders on being a god, insult him and it could be ugly.

Congrats to your Tigers for last nights win.
