Amazon discontinued the ability to create images using their SiteStripe feature and in their infinite wisdom broke all previously created images on 12/31/23. Many blogs used this feature, including this one. Expect my archives to be a hot mess of broken book cover images until I can slowly comb through 20 years of archives to make corrections.

Well deserved! Congratulations!

Hilcia: Mileage varies on this, but I think the lack of a clear runaway position player helped him. Red Sox collapsed down the stretch, Bautista was on a .500 team, Grandy led in RBIs, but not homeruns and had a .262 average....

Honestly, out of the position players I honestly thought Robinson Cano and Miguel Cabrera were the strongest canidates.

But what do I really know? ;)

I was thinking of you when I heard the news!!! Congrats to you (and to Justin too of course) And in the case of Jose Bautista - sour grapes says I!

Kristie: So late in commenting....

I'd have to check, but Bautista came in third, I think? He had the numbers, but those baseball writers are so finicky! The Blue Jays being .500 didn't help his chances. Heck, there was at least one writer who REFUSED to vote for Verlander because he was a pitcher, and not an everyday position player.

Sorry I didn't get back here earlier. I was pulling for Cano, but frankly didn't think they would give it to him. Maybe if Yanks had done a better job during post season, but that was not the case. Its a shame because he had a great year again. Congrats, it was deserved.
