But hey, it's 4 books out of your TBR pile no? :P that's efficient!

I wonder if the fact she didn't get angry had to do with the inspirational line... I'm thinking they have to be more accepting? Or perhaps that was just her nature...nathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02626894830238717124noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-350052669699480502.post-49476166010752704102012-06-21T17:26:25.915-07:002012-06-21T17:26:25.915-07:00AL: Heck, I almost failed at this month's chal...AL: Heck, I almost failed at this month's challenge! Wendy, DNF'ing three books before finally settling on one. And during western month too! Plus there's more than a little gratitude mixed in there. This one is actually pretty heavy in the "rescue fantasy" department - although honestly given Joanna's options as a women in the American West of the 19th century - I could roll with it here better than, say, if this were a contemporary ;)

Hart's also written several books for Harlequin Historical - a couple of which I've really enjoyed. I highly recommend The Horseman and Montana Wife is also very good. She's got a new HH due out in August, Montana Bride, which is a mail-order bride story. Looking forward to that one......Wendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12485867264936716806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-350052669699480502.post-6296799608490666552012-06-20T20:22:53.921-07:002012-06-20T20:22:53.921-07:00Oh boy! He sounds more than frustrating, particularly since obviously Joanna had been let down by men all her life.

I've read a couple of short stories by Hart, but since I rarely read inspirational stories, have failed to add any of her full length books to my TBR.Hilciahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17765831808358693421noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-350052669699480502.post-63263464186177833292012-06-20T10:45:19.402-07:002012-06-20T10:45:19.402-07:00Willaful: This month should have been a slam-dunk ...Willaful: This month should have been a slam-dunk for me, but settling on a book was brutal. I DNF'ed a contemporary where all the secondary characters were straight out of Redneck Hell. Then I chucked aside a historical for lumpy writing. Then another historical when I found out the heroine lived in the mountains and kept cougars as pets (Seriously?! I mean, seriously?!?!!?)

So yeah, while this one wasn't a great read for me, I managed to get it read. And at a fairly fast clip too. I'm a slow reader by nature, so I tend to forgive a lot if a book keeps me engaged to the point where I inhale it.

(Oh, and pretty sure I have that Davidson in the TBR. Bother.)Wendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12485867264936716806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-350052669699480502.post-28215172104225770322012-06-20T09:53:13.303-07:002012-06-20T09:53:13.303-07:00"And considering I DNF'ed one book, and c..."And considering I DNF'ed one book, and chucked aside two others, before settling on this one? "

Best thing about the TBR challenge, I usually got through several books before deciding on one. Alas, in this case, the one was so meh I couldn't really review it: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/351743010

Doesn't seem fair that on the Western challenge we both got stuck with unsatisfying books! I hope others did better.willafulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17201963128584310884noreply@blogger.com
