I could see a narrator switch if a different publisher had secured the audio rights for book 3 but they were ALL done by Penguin. Unless, for whatever reason, they couldn't get Boyer signed on for the third book. He wasn't available or????

I HAD to read this book but I was so invested in Boyer as the "voice" of the protagonist that I just couldn't go with the audio. Your comment brought back memories - I recall distinctly reading this book because I was in Nashville attending a conference. I'd go back to my hotel after a dinner of BBQ and Nashville's favorite vegetable (macaroni and cheese - LOL) and read until I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer.Wendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12485867264936716806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-350052669699480502.post-47674826447071296002019-01-04T11:38:34.608-08:002019-01-04T11:38:34.608-08:00I am so mad about the narrator change, that I'...I am so mad about the narrator change, that I'm not even excited to finish listening to it. :(((((
WHY???
I want to know why the change and if it is regretted. The first book won an Edgar Award, and I think Stephen Boyer did a dynamite job narrating.

Nath: And the first book is by far the darkest of the three. It's a "bad things happen to kids" plot - which is a non-starter for some readers.Wendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12485867264936716806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-350052669699480502.post-48749341147196703202015-09-01T09:15:34.587-07:002015-09-01T09:15:34.587-07:00So glad you enjoyed it so much. Good thing you could read it :)

I was all in trying out the first book... but dark? I was not a happy camper.

AL: A lot, for me. But don't worry, I'm still as cranky as ever. Also "read" on this trip? An absurd book that ended up being a B- and two DNFs. I seem to have two speeds this year - 1) I LOVE IT! SQUEE!!!! and 2) Meh. Can't be bothered.

This series sort of, kind of, ends "well." I was happy with where the secondary characters ended up. Our hero? Not so much. Although his ending "fits" (I thought) and does make sense given the big picture story arc of a three-book trilogy. But yeah, it's not Sunshine Happy Puppy Dogs and Rainbows.Wendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12485867264936716806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-350052669699480502.post-37551454212554435912015-08-29T18:26:01.510-07:002015-08-29T18:26:01.510-07:00How many A books you've read this year, Ms Wen...How many A books you've read this year, Ms Wendy? Thank goodness for paper books/e-books.A Library Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06144279685884011943noreply@blogger.com
