I'm always impressed with how varied Stuart's career as been. I didn't know Ms Stuart was writing even then!! Especially taking into an account that it was an early book. I think authors tend to be harsh critics of their earlier work.

Cathy: LOL! Might Lazarus was able to rise because he stayed at Deadwood? LOLOLOL!

Jill: Which is why I try to never glom the same author back-to-back that often. You start to notice the "little things." I see it a lot with some mystery/suspense writers as well....

Vi: Thank you for the offer, but no need for the loan. And not surprised to hear it's in first person. So many of these Old Skool Gothics were. One of the reasons I loved them as a teen :)

Library Girl: OMG - thanks for that image today! Right now there are copies selling for as cheap as $4.50 on Amazon....but I'm thinking they're not in the best of condition. A sterling copy? I bet you could land around $20 American? She totally doesn't need to be afraid of Connell, because she can stomp him to death with her stiletto heels. I ...I am a Stuart die-hard fan. I have that book.

I have every book she has written except for one: the first book in the Maggie Bennett trilogy. I refuse to buy that book because the hero dies behind the curtain. There's a new hero for books #2 and #3.

Back to this book. It's written in the first person. I don't dislike this book as much as Stuart does, lol. Of her old, old books, Seen and Not Heard is my absolute least favorite.

I can loan it to you, if you want to read it. :)

ViAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-350052669699480502.post-10346187792569272172011-02-13T17:01:24.818-08:002011-02-13T17:01:24.818-08:00@Jill D. - I have several authors about whom I fee...@Jill D. - I have several authors about whom I feel the same way. I know there are a lot of authors who have, shall we say, a limited range, or who rely on certain types of characters and storylines so that they can churn out massive numbers of books more easily. I don't think there's anything wrong with liking those authors' works, but it's easier to like them when you aren't so painfully aware of what they're doing.A Library Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06144279685884011943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-350052669699480502.post-25018546680924996572011-02-13T15:50:57.047-08:002011-02-13T15:50:57.047-08:00well, I hate to admit it, but I do have a thing fo...well, I hate to admit it, but I do have a thing for Ms. Stuart. I have not heard of this book by her, however. I went through a period when I read many of her books back to back. I am afraid that this wasn't the best thing to do because after a while the books started to blend together. I still enjoy her writing but I have to pace myself.Jill D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/10994157783980931093noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-350052669699480502.post-85007052066365990532011-02-13T09:41:27.589-08:002011-02-13T09:41:27.589-08:00On that same note: "Lazarus Rising" O_o ...On that same note: "Lazarus Rising" O_o Well, good for Lazarus!
