Amazon discontinued the ability to create images using their SiteStripe feature and in their infinite wisdom broke all previously created images on 12/31/23. Many blogs used this feature, including this one. Expect my archives to be a hot mess of broken book cover images until I can slowly comb through 20 years of archives to make corrections.

Nothing To See Here

Sigh.

The image hosting I was using for my blogger template went kaboom.

Yes, I know it's all kinds of eff-ed up right about now. But hey, at least you can read my blog again.

Bear with me, I'm working on it.

Well, it's readable again. And my sidebar is sorta, kinda back. But damn if I can get my header graphic to load. Dagnabit.

Yikes! This might be a good thing. Time to finally upgrade to the new blogger?

Lori: Upgraded to new blogger. Problem is that it will NOT load my header, for reasons I cannot figure out. It looks like it "takes" - and then.....nothing.

Sigh.

I hoping my template designer has a back-up of ALL the HTML code - since all I saved was the header graphic.

If not?

Looks like I'll be whoring myself out for a new template.

Oh that sucks Wendy! And it was so stinking cute! Hopefully you'll get everything worked out. :)

Is it the image hosting site that is down for some reason?

((((Wendy))))

Take it easy (and perhaps have some chocolate... ice cream... chocolate ice cream?) Your faithful readers will be here.

Nath: In a nutshell, where I had my template images hosted is closing it's doors. While they claim they're still open, things went completely haywire, and in my misguided efforts to fix it all, I uploaded the "new" Blogger. Yeah, updating the sidebar is really easy now - but it isn't playing nice with the HTML code on my old template.

And it won't even upload my banner because it's hate me.

So yeah, everything is eff-ed. The good news is a merry band of helpful elves is looking into it for me. I'm hoping I can get my template at least marginally restored.

Otherwise? I go shopping for something new.

That sucks!

I've already managed to kill my blog twice by updating stuff, so I know how frustrating it is.

I hope you resolve the problem soon. Your old template is cool!

So....how does it look y'all? I've looked at it from Firefox and IE7, and it looks dandy on my end. Lori assures me it should look good in Chrome as well.

I think I might be back in business! All thanks to Lori - who totally rocks the house!

It's back, it's back, the awesomeness is back!

So glad it's all back up. Sybil is out one bitch. LOL!!!

Looks good! i'm glad it's back up :) However, isn't it slightly changed? (in a good way :D)

improvements, improvements... that's what they call it every time they come up with a new version of something...

Nath: Yeah, it's not identical to what I had - but Lori did an amazing job of recreating for me. Also, I'm happy with the changes. There were things about the "old" template that were starting to annoy, but I wasn't sure how to fix them without updating to the "new" Blogger (which I was scared to do). The template going kaboom, finally forced my hand to do the upgrade.

Nath, I couldn't remember exactly what Wendy had, and when I pulled her code up in Dreamweaver this is what showed up so I went with it LOL. I was just hoping to get close. She doesn't hate me so I'm happy :)

I just took a trip back using the Wayback Machine, and honestly? It's so close it's ridiculous. The big cosmetic difference? The yellow outlining that Lori did isn't as thick. That's really it.

And the best part? My HTML coding is a lot cleaner now. Clicking on the banner will now take you back to my front page (it didn't before), and the titles on my posts are now hyperlinked (they weren't before).

My blog melting down yesterday gave me a massive panic attack - but in the end it worked out for the best.

Oh, and Lori? Look at the end of my sidebar. I gave you a credit girlie!
