Amazon discontinued the ability to create images using their SiteStripe feature and in their infinite wisdom broke all previously created images on 12/31/23. Many blogs used this feature, including this one. Expect my archives to be a hot mess of broken book cover images until I can slowly comb through 20 years of archives to make corrections.

Houston, We Have A Plot!

About the only thing I love more than shiny, crisp, brand-new books is publisher catalogs - and I see quite a bit of both thanks to work. Thank sweet baby Jesus for the fine folks at St. Martin's Minotaur because their new catalog means I (and you) now have a plot description for Chelsea Cain's September release, Sweetheart.
When the body of a young woman is discovered in Portland's Forest Park, Archie is reminded of the last time they found a body there: it turned out to be the Beauty Killer's first victim, and Archie's first case. Trouble is, Archie can't focus on the new investigation because the Beauty Killer case has exploded: Gretchen Lowell has escaped from prison.

Archie hadn't seen her in two months; he'd moved back in with his family and sworn off his obsession with her. Though it should feel like progress, he actually feels worse. The news of her escape spreads like wildfire, but secretly, Archie is relieved. He knows he's the only one who can catch her, and in fact, he has a plan to get out from under her thumb once and for all.
I knew Gretchen was going to be back, but yippee! So is Archie! Gah, is it September yet?

Oh, wow! I listened to Heartsick after my library featured it in a "fabulous firsts" column, and it blew me away. This is a big step from the end of Heartsick if Archie has moved back in with his family. And Gretchen escaped! Aack!

I'm with you - September can't come fast enough. Though I supposed I would like to enjoy the spring and summer and not rush headlong back into cold weather. :)

I'd better get Heartsick on my TBR pile before this one comes out, eh? I have to stop cruising blogs where all these fab books are mentioned. My kids can only eat so much cereal for dinner as I wave off cooking in favor of reading : )

Shayera: She is?! Oooooh, I wonder if she'll be signing ARCs?

Cathy: Heartsick is coming out in paperback at the end of July :)

Katie: Ha! Nice try. I already own LTL. I do not have a copy of Sweetheart though. I'm hoping the Gods smile on me though and I get me an ARC.......

Wendy,
That's what she's scheduled to sign. The whole autographing schedule is up at their website.

Oh Shayera - you've made my day. I've done no prep work for BEA so far. I guess I need sit down and start browsing the web site huh?

Yes, you do. ;-)
I make a spreadsheet with all the things I want to get to. And, I tell everybody. In the beginning they used to laugh at me. But now a whole bunch of them are doing it too.
I think that now that Comic-Con is over, there's going to be a whole lot more going on over there.

Have any of your little old ladies from the book talk read Heartsick yet? I'm always curious if they read it...and if they liked it...

Lil' Sis: No word on the Little Old Ladies - although I probably will never know unless they invite me back for a book talk. Or...one of them contacts me. I did leave some business cards with them.

AAAAK! Why September? Those bastards!! In September I will be neck deep in Med/Surg. reading as it will be back school. I have 14 credits in the Fall. Dammit. Looks like I'll have to wait until Christmas break, pisser.

Big Sis: I'm going to nearly kill myself and try to score an advanced copy at the upcoming BEA convention. If I do, I might be able to hook you up this summer :D
