Gypsies, Tramps And Thieves

The Boyfriend and I decided we needed to get out and do something with ourselves today. Since I still had some unspent gift certificates from the holidays, the outlet mall won out.

I might have mentioned it a time or two (or three) on this blog how hopelessly addicted I am to tea. If God came down from heaven one day and said, "Wendy, if you never drink tea again you'll lose 20 pounds overnight," I'd say, "Thanks anyway God, I rather like being fat." Seriously, addicted.

So when I spotted this very cool Twinings tea cannister today I had to have it. Not only does it look cool, but it came with 100 English Breakfast tea bags. All for only $25! My preeeccccioussss.

While we walking around in World Market (AKA Tea Heaven), The Boyfriend said, "Have you bought any of your rose petal tea yet?" Oh. My. God! I had totally forgotten!

Taking a cue from Cadbury, Republic Of Tea only makes their rose petal black tea available around Valentine's Day. Last year, I didn't get any, and it almost slipped my mind again this year! So the minute we got home I quickly ordered myself three cannisters online. It is oh so very yummy, but oh so an acquired taste. When I first had it, I wasn't all that wild about it. Oh sure, it was "OK," but "eh." Then I drank more. And more. And more. And fell in love. Now the question is, how long will three cannisters of loose leaf rose petal tea last one girl?

So let's do the math. One cool Twinings cannister with 100 tea bags and three cannisters of rose petal tea, bought all on the same day. Oh, and I picked up a Cadbury Dairy Milk bar while I was a it. I'd swear the Gypsies kidnapped me from an English hospital as a baby if I didn't look so much like my parents.

I'm an Irish Breakfast girl myself.
Eastern Shore Tea Company has some awesome tea. Their NiteOwl tea is lovely. The Chanticleer also makes you perky.

Though I'm a huge coffee fan, Earl Grey with lemon is my tea of choice when I need lighter fare.

Best day ever: a big mug of tea, a good book, and too much rain or snow to even think about going outside.

I just rec'd my copy of Money Shot and will start it soon, though it seems more like a book you'd read with a tumbler of scotch (or perhaps the whole bottle) at your elbow, not tea ;)

Kerry: There isn't a black tea I've met that I haven't liked. Irish Breakfast is one of my favorites. Never tried Eastern Shore Tea - will have to look them up.

Cathy: Scotch might be too sissy. It needs to be something that would burn a whole straight through your gut - like Wild Turkey or really cheap vodka LOL

When I went to London last year, I brought home a years worth of Marks and Spencer's Earl Grey. Fussy? Me? What makes you think that? ;-)

Oh yeah, it's about a month away from Library Journal putting up Day of Dialog info!

When I first got out of college I work at the B&N cafe and was addicted to the Republis teas *G*
But I have to say Starbuck's Tazo teas are amazing!! I had a bad cold a few weeks ago and have their Ginger Green tea and I was all better.
Go Tazo go!

Tazo Ginger Green tea...writing that down. I'm not a huge green tea fan, but I practically inhale the stuff when I'm sick. That's actual my cure for the common cold - drink enough tea to float your kidneys :)

Shayera: I never say I have a favorite tea, but Earl Grey probably comes close.....

Tea is my weakness. I am addicted to 4C diet blueberry white tea. I make a gallon of it at home in will sit there and drink the whole thing!
I spend more times in the bathroom that I should.

I'm a plain old orange pekoe girl personally. I do love other flavour variations, especially cherry and strawberry. Yum. We Dutch have a great tea brand called Pickwick: http://www.pickwicktea.com/INTL/AboutPickwick/
Give it a try sometime if you can find it :)

We have a lot of Dairy Milk and Cadbury candybars around here, you can get them at Walmart and regular convenience stores. Then again, I do live in Canada lol.

English Breakfast and Earl Gray are the two teas that are always available but that in my opinion taste awful. Earl Gray is too flowery in the mouth and English Breakfast is just weirdly brisk.

Now, are any of you so particular that you feel that if you can't get tea made with freshly boiled water, there's just no point? And that the leaves are always better than the bag? I bought myself a silver teapot for my birthday and I think it is so stylin'.

Kerry: Always fresh boiling water - but I rely on tea bags for convenience during the week. Sacrilege, I know. I use loose tea as well - but mainly on the weekends when I have time to brew (and drink) a proper pot. An ideal Sunday is a fresh pot of tea, the Sunday paper, and a football game on the TV....

Ok, Ok, I HAVE to mention Celestial Seasonings. I'm addicted to their herbal teas--not in the morning but from 10:30am on. I actually filled a suitcase with boxes of their teas when I visited their factory in Boulder Colorado. They have an aromatic room where they store their mint and other aromatic herbs. This WASN'T their big mint season but when I walked into that room I swear I developed sinuses I didn't know I had. Wow! Love, love some of their varieties and their Sleepy Time tea is so soothing with a spoonful of honey it sends me right off.

Don't get me wrong I bought TWO of those giant canisters of Twinings teas (one of English Breakfast and one that has Earl Grey). I have a whole cupboard shelf packed with tea. I guess I read too many Miles and Boone variety Harlequins and thought it was so cool to have tea that I switched after my morning 2 cups of coffee. Besides when it is cold and damp nothing matches a good cup of tea and a warm coverlet and a couple of good romances. A cat on your lap is optional.

Wendy, do you have a Lupicia near you? Their selections of teas are splendid! And last time I was in, they had 6 different Earl Greys. 6!

Shayera: Drat! No I don't. I'm thinking the Century City would be the closest and that's a hike for me. Although there are a couple of stores in San Fran and I'll be there this summer :) So maybe....
