Amazon discontinued the ability to create images using their SiteStripe feature and in their infinite wisdom broke all previously created images on 12/31/23. Many blogs used this feature, including this one. Expect my archives to be a hot mess of broken book cover images until I can slowly comb through 20 years of archives to make corrections.

It Came From The TBR

Anybody who has been crazy enough to go tip-toeing through my Library Thing account knows that I own an obscene amount of books. What I don't think most people realize is that all of those cataloged books? Every single one of them? I haven't read yet. That's right. I have over 900 books I have never, ever read.

It's a horrible sickness I tells ya.

So I am declaring 2008 The Year Of The TBR. That's right. I hope to read as many books as I can out of the TBR, concentrating on the ones I've had lying around for years. For the sake of this mission, let's say more than three years. Believe me, that gives me a ton to choose from.

It Came From The TBR will be a year-long, ongoing feature here at the Bat Cave for all of 2008. Stick around, read about my madness, and maybe add to your used bookstore shopping list while you're at it. Because honestly, we're all just a bunch of enablers here in Blog Land. And by all means, feel free to steal my idea for your own blog or reading resolution for 2008. Because I know I'm hardly the only one with this illness.

Can I join you? I know I have a ton of books that I haven't read. And they probably rival your tally. Ugh.

Nicole: Yes, do join in! Anyone else who is interested, please post a comment. Then I'll compile all your blog links and do a separate post. Feel free to steal the "It Came From The TBR" name for your own use :D

I'm doing the same thing. I posted a couple of times last month about adding anything new I want to my Amazon wish list, and reading solely from my TBR mountains. I do have some pre-orders of fave authors coming, but I did the ordering last year so it doesn't count!

Every year I try to read down the TBR for the local library's adult reading program. And every year the TBR seems to only get bigger. I just can't resist booksale books and garage sale finds and the occasional new book. Plus there are always books being talked about that I can get through interloan. Even weeding down the TBR doesn't make much of a dent overall. I know you know what I mean. Every bookie does.

But I do want to get to some of those TBR books. I do! So once again I'm going to try to dig in for the reading program. Wish me luck. And good luck to you!

See, I was planning on doing something like this - it's already reduced my pile by 3. LOL And my pile is at 584. I love that enabler comment, it's so true. :P

Wow, I need to do this too. I'm afraid I lack the strength of will, however. Still, I'll try. :-D

My TBR is around 320 at the moment, btw. Blah.

Ah, I will have to steal that.

And in addition to this, I'm just trying to get back in the blogger game this year. Last year wasn't too hot in the blog department.

I'm with you. I posted earlier that I want to resurrect the TBR challenge because I have SO, so many books waiting to be read.

This is a great idea. Last year I actually weeded through and got rid of some I knew I'd never get around to.

And I thought my collection of seven hundred plus TBR's was bad. Wait 'til my mom hears about your number! (She thinks my book buying habits are "obscene.")

I'm with you on this one. So many books, so little time is the story of my life.
