Amazon discontinued the ability to create images using their SiteStripe feature and in their infinite wisdom broke all previously created images on 12/31/23. Many blogs used this feature, including this one. Expect my archives to be a hot mess of broken book cover images until I can slowly comb through 20 years of archives to make corrections.

Christmas Ho

Dear Harlequin SuperRomance,
I like you. I really like you. But did you have to put a slew of holiday-themed books on your November roster? Don't you know that I recently had to purchase two pairs of plane tickets for our upcoming holiday travel plans? That I'll likely slip into a coma when I open my credit card statement next month? You know what you are? An enabler! Hell, I even want the books that have the satanic toddlers and babies on the covers. There's even an amnesia plot buried in here!

But they're holiday-themed, and I must have them all. Like now. Won't you please think of my bank account?

Silly me, of course you won't.

Sincerely,
Wendy the Super Librarian

P.S. - Oh I can't stay mad at you for long! Besides, I'm on a diet. I'll just stop buying groceries.

I love holiday romances too, Wendy! Enjoy your reading and hopefully opening your credit card statement doesn't cause you to faint.

Poor Wendy.

Can't you just get them from your library? I mean, you ARE the Super Librarian.

I think I'm a scrooge when it comes to Christmas stories. I don't like them. I find them too smaultzy (now I know that's a word - but I spelled it wrong). But it saves money that way 'cause Harlequin does love putting them out don't they?

LOL! The folks at Harlequin are really loving you.

LOL - I read 'em too, Wendy.

I love them, too! Not just Christmas, either - Halloween, Valentine's Day, New Year's...everything except the Mother's Day stuff. Eep!

I've never read any holiday romances before, but they look like cute, easy light reads. And it's weird because I've been in the Christmasy mood this past week too. Must be because it's SO cold in SoCal now! *snort*

Nicole: Well I could, but then I'd have to wait for them. Besides, I could totally see me plowing through all of these during December.

KristieJ: The only time of year I like smaltz is at Christmas. Even then there's a fine line. We're going to have to think up some non-smaltzy Christmas romances for you!

C2: I'm not a sucker for the other holiday-themed romances, just Christmas. Puts me in that cozy, heart-warming mood - unless of course I'm spending too much time at the mall. Then I just want to hurt my fellow man....

Daphne: LOL! How much time are you spending in Costco? The one near me had some Christmas stuff out in mid-September! Hello? They just completely skipped over two holidays to get to it.
