Amazon discontinued the ability to create images using their SiteStripe feature and in their infinite wisdom broke all previously created images on 12/31/23. Many blogs used this feature, including this one. Expect my archives to be a hot mess of broken book cover images until I can slowly comb through 20 years of archives to make corrections.

Gum Time!

I swear to God, I love the Internet. I mean, I really do. Yes ladies and gentlemen, Nate Robertson has a blog.

Now I'm going to forgive you here if you say, "Nate who?" but only if you aren't a baseball fan. Robertson is #4 in my Detorit Tigers five man pitching rotation. He's been with the team for a while. Long enough to have started a few games during the dreaded 2003 season (yeah, yeah 119 losses. Blah, blah, blah)

Nate's in the spotlight thanks to "rally chew." Yep, when the Tigers are down in later innings, you'll see Robertson in the dugout with the World's Largest Wad Of Gum, just working away at it. And naturally the Tigers have pulled out a few games late. I am one of those who totally loved the Anaheim Angels Rally Monkey - but have to admit that "rally chew" works better on a certain level. Where else can you see grown men acting like little kids, but not making complete asses of themselves? It's kinda cute actually.

AMEN, sister!
I am thrilled about the "rally chew". Granted, not as thrilled as the company that makes Big League Chew bubble gum, but still pretty darn happy. It's nice to see good clean fun in major league babseball. Nice to see kids emulating their heros with gum in their mouths not tobacco. I think it's great. If they make it to the World Series, I'm holding out for Jim Leeland to get a wad going too!

I thought it was sooo funny when he started doing that! I tried to tell my husband about it (he works nights) but I was laughing to hard. They are playing great and I think they will keep it up! My husband is on his way to the game now, but Nate better have extra gum because everytime DH goes, they lose!

Now see - another reason why it's such a shame we don't get the Tigers on TV around here. One of our local radio stations broadcasts the games, but it's not quite the same as seeing it on TV. With this run that they're on, I really miss not getting to see them the way we used to.
