I just got back from a used bookstore I never go to. I've lived in Southern California for 2 years and I think I've been to this bookstore 3 times. I'm not sure why, since the very first time I ever set foot in the place I found a copy of Stolen Charms by Adele Ashworth that looked so new that I went outside to make sure I hadn't wandered into Barnes and Noble.
This trip netted me The Ladies' Man by Lorraine Heath. Outside of the front cover being bent at the spine, and the pages starting to yellow - this copy looks fantastic. Hell, I didn't have this one on my wish list but I bought it just on principal.
So that makes two very hard to find books I've discovered in this store just blithely sitting on the shelves.
I'm trying to remember now exactly why I don't go to this store more often.

I'm an idiot - but I'm blaming my illness. The medication has made me woozy (and dumb apparently). LOL
I have been wanting to read some Lorraine Heath. I will see if my local (fabulous) library has any. Cool on the UBS, doesn't that just give you a chill when you find something you really, really want?
Did you need Parting Gifts? I have three copies now... one is alyssa's and I haven't decided if I am keeping mine.
So the third is sitting in your mountain of books to one day be mailed. You still need Always to Remember right? I am going to try and read it first and it is an old library copy. But I figure I won't want to keep it and that if you have never read it, library copy won't bother you ;).

Megan - her TEXAS trilogy is a must read as far as I'm concerned.

Ah - I have Ladies Man and um ah I disliked it intensely. It was the first book in a series about a family that had to do something nice on their birthday (forget which birthday). I read that one and couldn't be bothered with anymore as I thought that one was dreadful. Plus the hero's name was Herculese which caused my eyes to roll uncontrollably. I couldn't believe it was the same author who wrote the Texas trilogy, Sweet Lullabye and Parting Gifts. Since no one else I know has read LM, I'm curious now to see if it was just me.

Which is why I didn't have it on my wishlist. I've heard mixed things about it. But then I saw it just SITTING there on the shelf with a $2.50 price tag. I felt it was my duty to buy it (G). What the heck right? It's early Heath - it's worth a shot.
Well - an early Heath - I would have bought it myself :) And like I said it might have just been me. And - it IS an unread Heath Western
Huh...I found Ladies Man last week at work. :-)
And yes, why don't you go there more often?
